Biography | ||
Dr. Gary Gumpert holds a PhD in Speech (Radio and Television) (1963) from Wayne State University, a Master Degree in Speech (Radio and Television) (1956) and English from Michigan State University and a Bachelor in Broadcasting and Theatre from Temple University. Gary Gumpert is a partner in the consulting firm of Communication Landscapers, is Professor Emeritus of Communication Arts and Sciences at Queens College, City University of New York, and also Vice President of the U.S. chapter of the International Institute of Communication. His work over the past thirty years has addressed the many nuances in our growing dependency upon mediated communication. Formerly a radio and television producer/director, Gary is widely published in a variety of journals and books which examine the intricate interconnection of social interaction, urbanization and media technology. His primary research focuses on the nexus of communication technology and social relationships, particularly looking at urban and suburban development, the alteration of public space, and the changing nature of community. |
